BIOGRAPHY
Duarte Perry is an interdisciplinary artist based between Zurich and Lisbon. Working across photography, performance, and installation, his practice engages with emotion, memory, and disappearance, interweaving personal and collective narratives.
Often investigating the semiotics of affection, he stages performative gestures of care and belonging. Materially, Perry works with fabric, stone, metal, and plexiglass—frequently linked to family heritage—bridging architecture and fashion.
He holds a BA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, and an MFA from Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), where he received the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.
Recent exhibitions span Emotional Extractions — Images of Disappearance (Centre Culturel Portugais — Camões, Luxembourg, 2025; curated by Julian Denzler), Presence through Others (MATERIAL, Zurich, 2024; curated by Lucas Gasgar), La Biennale Architectures (Luxembourg, 2024), TOXI Space (Zurich, 2023), and Fundação D. Luís I (Portugal, 2023). His works are held in public and private collections, including MAC|CCB (Lisbon) and MU.SA — Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Sintra.
He has been an artist-in-residence at the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (2024), the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (2022), and MAAT—Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Portugal (2020).
