BIOGRAPHY

Duarte Perry (b. 1999, Lisbon) is an artist based in Zurich and Lisbon, working across photography, performance, and installation. His interdisciplinary practice explores themes of emotion, memory, and disappearance, weaving together personal and collective narratives. Perry often investigates the semiotics of affection, inviting reflection on performative gestures of care.

His work incorporates diverse materials such as fabric, stone, metal, and plexiglass—many of which are tied to his family heritage—bridging the fields of architecture and fashion.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), where he was awarded the prestigious Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.

Perry’s work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Europe and Asia, including Emotional Extractions - Images of Disappearance, curated by Julian Denzler at Centre Culturel Portugais - Camões, (Luxembourg, 2025), Presence through Others, curated by Lucas Gasgar at MATERIAL (Zurich, 2024), La Biennale Architectures (Luxembourg, 2024), TOXI Space (Zurich, 2023), and the D. Luís I Foundation (Portugal, 2023), among others. His works are part of public and private collections, including the Museu de Arte Contemporânea (MAC|CCB) in Lisbon and MU.SA – Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Sintra.

He has participated in several international residencies, including the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (2024), the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (2022), and the MAAT Museum in Portugal (2020).
