BIOGRAPHY
Duarte Perry is an interdisciplinary artist based in Zurich and Lisbon. Working across photography, performance, and installation, his practice centers on disappearance as an active, emotional process. Through images, gestures, and spatial situations, he explores how absence reshapes bonds between bodies, affect, and memory.
Perry works with fabric, metal, stone, and plexiglass—materials frequently connected to family histories—drawing on the fields of architecture and fashion. He holds a BA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon (PT), and an MFA from the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK, CH), where he received the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.
Recent solo exhibitions include Emotional Extractions — Images of Disappearance (Centre Culturel Portugais — Camões, LU, 2025; curated by Julian Denzler), Presence through Others (MATERIAL, CH, 2024; curated by Lucas Gasgar), and LOVÓ / La Biennale Architectures (LU, 2024). Group exhibitions span EMOPLUX (LU, 2025), Rautistrasse 3000 (CH, 2024), TOXI Space (CH, 2023), and Fundação D. Luís I (PT, 2023). His works are held in public and private collections, including MAC|CCB (PT) and MU.SA — Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Sintra (PT).
He has been an artist-in-residence at the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (LU, 2024), the Institute of Contemporary Arts Singapore (SG, 2022), and MAAT—Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (PT, 2020). He is also the founder of Artists’ Voices, an upcoming podcast and digital platform based in Zurich (CH), spotlighting artists connected to Switzerland through in-depth, English-language conversations.
